BSF Pays Tribute to Fallen Hero

New Delhi: On Sunday, the Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) along with personnel from all ranks paid their respects to Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imteyaz, who tragically lost his life due to cross-border firing from Pakistan in the R S Pura region of Jammu.

The BSF announced that a ceremonial wreath-laying event will take place on May 11 at their Jammu Frontier Headquarters in Paloura.

In a statement released Saturday night, the BSF expressed, "DG BSF and all ranks honor the ultimate sacrifice made by Sub-Inspector Md Imteyaz in service to the Nation on May 10, during cross-border firing by Pakistan along the International Boundary in the RS Pura area. The Prahari Pariwar stands united with the grieving family during this difficult time."

Officials reported that Sub-Inspector Imteyaz was killed and seven others sustained injuries due to the Pakistani firing along the International Border in Jammu on Saturday.

The BSF is responsible for securing a lengthy frontline of over 2,000 kilometers between India and Pakistan.

Despite a ceasefire agreement, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both nations had decided to halt all military actions across land, air, and sea starting at 5 PM on Saturday.

However, India later stated that Pakistan breached this agreement, leading to retaliatory actions from the Indian Army against border intrusions.

During a special briefing, Foreign Secretary Misri emphasized that India takes these violations very seriously and urged Pakistan to address the situation responsibly.

He stated that the Armed Forces have been instructed to respond decisively to any further violations along both the International Border and the Line of Control.

The Indian Army is actively engaged in retaliatory measures against these incursions, condemning the aggression and holding Pakistan accountable. Misri reiterated the need for Pakistan to recognize the seriousness of the situation and take immediate corrective actions.

The Army is closely monitoring developments and has been directed to implement strong measures against any future incursions.
